Owner of Las Vegas Bar Accused of Lewd Conduct Asks for Leniency

Filed under: Casino — Tags: — OCE News @ 3:09 am

The owner of a Las Vegas bar were gaming agents witnessed patrons performing sex acts in public, has asked for leniency from the Nevada Gaming Commission, should they choose to bring down harsh sanctions on the company. The owner of the bar states that she will be financially ruined if the harsh sanctions are handed down, and states that the activities that were witnessed by the gaming agents were not something that was allowed by the establishment.

The State Gaming Control Board originally filed their nine count complaint earlier in the year against Judy R Nelson, who was the owner of the Las Vegas Eagle, and establishment that had a restricted gaming license. The restricted gaming license allowed for slot machines at their location on E. Tropicana Ave. The complaint that was filed with the Nevada Gaming Comission stated that on July 2011, during a routine inspection, and following numerous complaints of inappropriate activity at the location, agents found photos on craigslist along with sexually charge postings, attempting to get people to visit the location.

Upon the finding of these advertisements, agents visited the bar at various times throughout November and April, where they witnessed lewd activity including a competition where five individuals compared buttocks in public, and other incidents in which patrons were having sex in the view of other customers. The complaints state that this is not a one-time thing, and was an ongoing activity in the bar, which can be showed to the investigation files that have been released. Now Nelson, the owner of the bar, through her attorney Robert Lueck has filed a complaint asking that the commission determine whether or not the allegations were founded, and that her gaming license not be revoked. She asked that if any punishment is handed down, that it be a probationary period and a small fine, in order to help her to avoid financial ruin.

A six-month probation was handed down by the Clark County Business License Division in May. There had been no complaints about the business since that time, and Nelson is hoping that she will be able to get the board to consider a more lenient penalty for their discretion, in order to allow her to keep her business open, and not have to file for bankruptcy.

The commission so far is not set a date on the hearing for the complaint, but the recommendation from the board has been a fine on each of the nine allegations and action against her gaming license. Nelson is hoping that this is not have to be the case, and not an amicable decision can be reached that does not involve the removal of the gaming license. Nelson has acknowledged that there was some lewd activity in the bar during an “underwear night” promotion that the barrette held in April, but as stated that since then there has been no lewd activity and that the lesson has been learned. Nelson has been licensed for more than 25 years, in six different cars in the Las Vegas area. Prior to this recent investigation, Nelson has never had a complaint raised in front of the Gaming Control Board, which is one of the reasons why she stated she was hoping for leniency in the ruling.

Full Tilt Poker Has Been Dishonoring Player and Affiliate Contracts

Recent reports behind the Full Tilt Poker Company suggest that their Black Friday roster of professional players are not going to be compensated with back pay after they newly relaunched their website. The company released this information to the players by sending out an e-mail, which went out to everyone within the casino.

Just before Black Friday, Full Tilt Poker was at its peak, and they were able to employ as many as 100 professional poker players. Many of these poker players were called Red Pros and were part of other leagues around the world. Full Tilt Poker is actually establishing their own poker league, they are known as The Professional, but they are a much smaller team than Red Pros.

Dustin Iannotti is Full Tilt’s Manager and the e-mail that he released read: “Other than the non-US player balances, The Rational Group did not assume any liabilities of the previous Full Tilt Poker companies and therefore previous contractual agreements that Full Tilt Poker may have had including with FTP Red Pros were excluded. As such, The Rational Group is not liable and will not pay for any amounts which may have been due to you under your agreement with any former Full Tilt Poker company.”

Of course, Full Tilt’s “The Professional” poker players certainly can’t be happy about not being compensated for what they rightfully deserved. However, the players are not the only ones that have missed out on this. In fact, affiliates of Full Tilt were also uncompensated for their referrals and website traffic that they delivered to the company.

That e-mail essentially states that any earnings, either as a player, or as an affiliate, will be unpaid by Full Tilt. They announced this after relaunching their website, specifying that any of the money you earned from their previous brands is no longer applicable as an agreement, since they have relaunched and are no longer the same company. A lot of the players and affiliates are very upset about this, because they work hard to deliver traffic and sales to the company, and then they’re just left empty-handed. Affiliates put in a lot of time and dedication into making their affiliate marketing campaign successful, so to have this money go unpaid could be devastating to their finances. Affiliate marketers are people just like you, they promote programs on the Internet so that they can make an income and work from home. A lot of them have families to support and when a company like this cuts ties, a lot of the money they were counting on will no longer come. For Full Tilt, they may never recover some of these affiliates that they will lose because of this settlement. Some of the poker players are even expected to leave the league because of this unfortunate news. Online casinos definitely have to be careful with the actions that they take, deciding to pocket the money instead of paying out the people that work hard and deserve it can be disheartening news to deliver.

Colliers Gaming Group Analysts See Bright Future For Strip Revenue

Colliers Gaming Group is a gambling analysis group that is known for accurately predicting the trends of the Las Vegas area. The company recently stated that they believed that $1.5 billion will be invested in the Las Vegas gaming market over the course of the next two years, allowing for strip revenue to continue to grow at a fast pace. The prediction specifically came from Mike Mixer, the head of a new national gaming group that was established last summer by Colliers International. The firm is known throughout the Las Vegas area as being a major company in the hotel, office, and retail sectors. Now, the company is looking to add gaming to that list, and get into the gaming industry as well.

The team includes executives that have been in the area for a long time, including executives Josh Smith, and Gabe Telles, both of whom work for competitor CBRE before coming over to the company. The investments that they are currently anticipating include the sale of a few new casinos as well as construction that will be fired for the updates, the renovation of the Sahara hotel and casino, which is being heavily invested into and renovated on its way to becoming the SLS Las Vegas.

Other huge investments in the coming years will be the transformation of the Imperial Palace, in the Quad, Caesar’s investment into the Linq entertainment promenade at the Flamingo, and the redevelopment of Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall.

With many of the largest casinos throughout the strip and Las Vegas areas seeing a huge increase in revenue this year over previous years, it is no surprise to see predictions of huge money flowing into the region in the coming months. Also, a number of companies that have been previously unable to sell during the downturn in economic times, have found new buyers were willing to invest in the properties. It will be interesting to see if the totals reached the number that was predicted by Mixer, whose predictions are much higher than some of the other analysts in the area. While most are predicting that huge amounts of money will be flowing into the region now that casinos and resorts in the area have once again become profitable for the first time since 2008, not many are willing to go as far as the $1.5 billion estimate that Mixer handed down.

When asked about why his prediction was so bold, Mixer stated that ” The light switch was off in 2009 and 2010. As our visitor volume has rebounded to peak levels or near-peak levels, it’s a strong catalyst that begins the discussion. Seeing our occupancy level at a number that’s the highest in the nation with 151,000 rooms, that’s impressive.”

It is clear that sources of investment from around the United States are once again becoming interested in investing in Las Vegas area properties. In 2008 and 2009, the area saw far less dollars from tourism, the main attraction the Las Vegas. These types of estimations from large, well-known companies have helped to show that the area is beginning their true recovery. Although Nevada still sees foreclosure rates and unemployment rates higher than the rest of the nation, a turnaround in the health of the casinos could greatly help the company.

What Does U.S. Regulation Mean for the Online Gambling Industry?

If online gambling becomes U.S. regulated, the industry is expected to grow immensely. At the moment, the only type of online gambling that is currently legal is sports gambling. This has allowed sports gamblers to place bets from home, with little worry that they could be arrested for their actions. The reason why sports gambling was legislated is because they believe there is skill behind placing wagers on sports games, while they believe there is not much skill behind slot machines and other types of online gambling games. However, recent efforts have been pushing U.S. Congress to initiate legislation and regulation for online casino games like poker. Poker is a card game, but there is a lot of skill involved and it is not entirely luck. Surely, there is some luck that comes into play, but you have to be very good at poker in order to be successful. Today, poker is treated as a sport on television and throughout many parts of the world it is recognized as so. So while sports betting may have passed legislation for online gambling, poker and other types of online casino games are still illegal and it doesn’t make sense to a lot of gamers.

Some experts say that legislation behind all types of online gambling is unlikely

If you speak with an expert, they will likely tell you that legislation behind all types of online gambling is unlikely to happen. Games like slot machines that are purely luck based, are not likely to make it through Congress to become legal. However, games like poker do happen to have a chance, since there’s skill involved and there is an opportunity for the individual to be successful with their poker wagering.

The affiliate marketing industry would certainly grow behind online poker

If online poker or other types of online casino games were legalized, the affiliate marketing industry behind online casinos would grow immensely. Affiliate marketing is what allows other websites to promote online casinos, and earn a commission if they get a sale or referral. The problem is that United States affiliate marketers have to stay clear of online gambling affiliate programs because there us such risk involved with supporting them. Online gambling is not legal, so if an affiliate marketer resides within the United States and earns his money through online casinos, this is actually not legal for him to be doing. If online poker and other types of casino games happen to get legalized, affiliate marketers in the United States would become immensely profitable. Preparing for this is actually highly recommended, since online poker is expected to get legislated and regulated. Affiliate marketers are starting to prepare themselves now, so that they can begin to endorse and promote the industry as soon as it becomes available to them.

Mobile platforms could become wildly popular

Most players behind online casinos use laptops and desktop computers to play their games. However, tablets and smart phones are becoming more and more popular and if the industry were to support online gambling, these devices would be used regularly for gaming.
